  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Interest in the former Celtic and Tottenham manager was said to have been shown after the decision was taken to sever ties with Ten Hag. The Dutch tactician was relieved of his duties in Leverkusen just two games into the 2025-26 campaign.

  The ex-Manchester United and Ajax boss failed to convince club bosses after being drafted in as successor to Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso over the summer. The decision was quickly taken to make another change in the dugout.

  Leverkusen finally confirmed the appointment of Kasper Hjulmand as their next head coach in an announcement on Monday. The Bundesliga side's statement read: "Kasper Hjulmand signs on as the new head coach for Bayer 04. Warm welcome to Leverkusen, Coach!"
