A family have been given prison sentences after being found guilty of burgling several properties – including the home of Alexander Isak.

Newcastle striker Isak's home was targeted by a criminal gang in April last year, stealing £68,000 worth of jewellery, £10,000 in cash and a car that belonged to the Sweden international. It is just one of many cases of a high-profile footballer's property being targeted in recent years, with many organised gangs planning raids while the stars' are known to have been playing matches.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The group that carried out the burglary also hit two other properties in the Darras Hall area of Northumberland, netting them around £1.3 million. A court heard that brothers Valentino and Giacomo Nikolov, their sister Jela Jovanoic, who acted as the getaway driver, and her son Charlie Jovanovic travelled from Italy to England to make their attacks on the three homes.

PRISON SENTENCES HANDED OUT
After being found guilty, Judge Robert Spragg handed out lengthy punishments. Valentino, 32, who has previous convictions in Italy and Switzerland, will be jailed for 10 years, while his 28-year-old brother was given an eight-year stretch. Jela, 43, was handed a sentence of seven years and two months, while 23-year-old Charlie was jailed for six years and nine months.

WHAT NEXT FOR ISAK?
Isak's future at Newcastle has been the subject of much speculation, with Arsenal and Liverpool said to be interested in signing him. However, it has not yet been confirmed if Sunday's match against Everton will be his last game in Newcastle colours.
