The father of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, Mounir Nasraoui, admits that he feared for his life after being stabbed during a car park attack.

The 35-year-old was involved in a heated exchange when out walking his dog in the Rocafonda neighbourhood of Catalunya. According to , Nasraoui suffered multiple stab wounds after being lured to what he considered to be “clear-the-air” talks with his assailants.

Nasraoui was rushed to hospital in the wake of the incident, with local police confirming three arrests and the detention of another suspect. A Barcelona executive reportedly said after paying a visit to the medical facility that Yamal’s father was taken to: “Luckily a friend of the father’s appeared because otherwise they would have killed him.”

Nasraoui has told of how his recovery is going: “Thank God they have just taken me up to the ward and I am a little better. We must be calmer, for the good of everyone, for mine and my family’s. I must be calmer because I have no other choice, we must think that justice will do its job and it will surely do so, that is the most important thing. Thank God, who is very great, everything has a solution. Of course I was afraid, I saw myself between life and death, afraid like any human being.”

Yamal is among those to have visited his father, along with Barca president Joan Laporta. Nasraoui is said to be in a stable condition, after suffering puncture wounds to his chest and ribs, with the four men in custody due to appear in court on Friday.
